“We're highly optimistic that the ‘Community’ feature will provide invaluable insights and significantly enhance overall engagement on the Cropwise Grower app. It's a testament to the power of connected farming!”
Syngenta is one of the world’s leading agriculture companies, helping growers improve productivity, sustainability, and crop outcomes through science and technology. As digital tools become increasingly important in modern farming, Syngenta has been investing in platforms that support farmers beyond traditional inputs.
One of these tools is the Cropwise Grower App, a digital platform designed to help farmers manage their crops, access insights, and make more informed decisions in the field. In Pakistan, the platform has seen strong adoption, with more than 1 million registered farmer profiles already onboarded. Syngenta saw an opportunity to take the platform even further by creating a space where growers could learn from each other.

Creating a space for growers to learn from each other
While Cropwise already provided valuable digital tools, growers still lacked an easy way to connect with one another directly within the platform. Farmers frequently face similar challenges, from pest outbreaks to irrigation strategies, and often rely on peer advice to find practical solutions. However, there was no dedicated place in the app where growers could exchange knowledge or share experiences.
This meant many farming practices remained isolated. A grower experimenting with a successful technique in one region might never reach others who could benefit from the same idea. At the same time, access to expert advice or agronomists could be limited depending on location. This left growers without immediate support when facing urgent crop issues.
Syngenta recognized that bringing farmers together could unlock significant value. By enabling growers to connect, ask questions, and share what works in their fields, Cropwise could become more than just a tool. It could become a thriving knowledge-sharing ecosystem for the farming community.
<sprscript-green>Why social.plus<sprscript-green>
Turning Cropwise into a community-driven platform
Syngenta was looking for a solution that could seamlessly add social functionality into the existing Cropwise experience while keeping the platform simple and valuable for growers.
social.plus stood out because it allowed Syngenta to embed a full community experience directly within the app. The goal was not simply to introduce social features. The objective was to create meaningful interactions that would increase engagement while empowering growers to help each other succeed.
By integrating social.plus, Syngenta aimed to strengthen grower loyalty to the Cropwise platform while encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing among farmers. The company also saw an opportunity to gain deeper insights into the needs and challenges of growers. Conversations within the community could help inform product development and improve the services they provide.
<sprscript-green>Implementation & Use Case<sprscript-green>
Bringing the Cropwise grower community to life
Syngenta introduced the Community feature directly within the Cropwise Grower App in Pakistan, allowing farmers to join and participate without needing a separate platform.

Growers could create profiles and authenticate themselves within the community, giving them a recognizable identity when interacting with others. Once inside the platform, they could share updates from their farms, post recommendations, and tag specific crops to make their content more relevant to other growers.
A global feed allowed users to discover and engage with posts from farmers across the network. Growers could like, comment, share, or bookmark posts that were useful to them. These interactions helped conversations grow naturally around real farming experiences.
The platform also made it easier for growers to connect with others who shared similar interests. Farmers could follow other growers based on location or crops of interest. This helped create smaller and more relevant networks within the broader community. Crop-specific tags added another layer of discovery by helping users find discussions related to particular crops or farming practices.
By embedding the community directly into the existing app, Syngenta ensured that participation felt natural for growers who were already using Cropwise.
<sprscript-green>Results & Impact<sprscript-green>
Rapid adoption and strong early engagement
The response from growers was immediate and overwhelmingly positive. On the very first day after launch, more than 300 unique growers joined the community and contributed over 70 posts.
The momentum continued quickly. Within the first month alone, the Cropwise Community welcomed over 15,000 growers who generated more than 6,000 posts. Engagement has remained strong, with farmers contributing an average of more than 50 posts per day.
These interactions are helping farmers share practical field insights, discover new techniques, and learn from the experiences of other growers across different regions. At the same time, the conversations provide Syngenta with valuable insights into growers’ needs, helping the company continuously improve its digital offerings.
<sprscript-green>Future Plans<sprscript-green>
Expanding connected farming worldwide
Following the strong adoption in Pakistan, Syngenta plans to expand the Cropwise Community to additional regions across the country and eventually launch the experience in other zones around the world.
The long-term vision is to continue building a connected ecosystem where growers can collaborate, learn, and innovate together. By combining digital tools with community-driven knowledge sharing, Cropwise is evolving into a platform that supports farmers not only with data and insights but also with the shared expertise of other growers.
With social.plus powering the community experience, Syngenta is helping farmers move from isolated decision making toward a more connected and collaborative future in agriculture.
